From WBC:
Lupita wants to fight “Barby”
A few days before making the fifth defense of her WBC super flyweight championship, Guadalupe “Lupita” Martinez is already contemplating a new challenge on 2020.
With victory this weekend, she wants to face Mariana “Barby” Juarez, in what would be a real clash of champions.
“I have always said I want to face the best, no matter their name or record. I am willing to stake my championship against whoever it is, my promoter has told me that he will take steps to fight for the WBC Diamond belt, and I would love to have that fight versus Mariana Juarez.”
But first, Lupita will seek to make her fifth defense of the green and gold belt this Saturday, December 14 in Tulum, Quintana Roo, against the dangerous Debani Balderas.
“We are going step by step and leaving everything in the hands of my promoters. Right now our thoughts are to get the victory this Saturday, finish the year well, and then we will think about a possible fight with Mariana Juárez. Debani will not be an easy rival and we have to defeat her to be ready for next year and to make happen our future plans.”
