MEXICAN TIGER VOWS TO REPEL STARS AND STRIPES CHALLENGE!
Mexico`s first ever female World Boxing Council Champion Alejandra “La Tigre” Jimenez is gearing up for a stern test in her first defence, against Carlette “The Truth” Ewell, who`s bravely coming to the lion`s den…namely the Zocalo, Mexico City as challenger.
Alejandra won the title last year in Cancun from Martha Salazar. Undefeated she has four KO`s in six fights. By contrast Carlette, who`s from Winston-Salem, South Carolina has a record of 16-8-1, including 9 KO`s. Alejandra said: “Carlette is strong and heavier, with more experience, but I`m here on my soil fighting in front of my people and I`m going to show what a Mexican can do!
“I`m focused but also very emotional and I`m going to give 100 percent plus in this fight, as the champion. Finally… I`m fighting my first defence, thanks to the help of World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman. I want to be an active champion and defend my title as many times as possible. This is my career and this is my work.
“I`m always keen to go for a KO with my power, but I`ve trained very hard and I can also go the full ten rounds to win a very clear decision. I`m working on my defence. In my last fight I got a real black eye, but sometimes it`s impossible to make a omelette without breaking a few eggs!”
