SERRANO DEFEATS RIVAS TO CLAIM WBC DIAMOND BELT
Amanda Serrano (31-1-1, 23 KOs) from Puerto Rico defeated Mexican Yazmin Rivas (35-10-1, 10 KOs) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY winning the Prestigious WBC Diamond belt.
Serrano and Rivas served up an excellent and exciting fight. Serrano found and precisely judged her distance, intelligently using her jab to stay in firm control, astutely banking up the rounds. Serrano was in complete control by round seven, clearly dominating Rivas and picking her apart with a straight right jab to the head and body.
The Judges scored the fight 97-93, 98-92 and 99-91 all to Serrano.
This bout made history, as the first US nationally televised women’s world title fight in nearly a decade.
