WBO Featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (27-1-1, 20 KOs) will be featured on the DiBella Entertainment and Red Carpet Promotions show on Friday, April 22nd at the Cancha Ruben Zayas Montanez in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.
This will be Serrano’s first bout since capturing her second WBO title (now at Featherweight) by dismantling Olivia Gerulo in one round of action and her first professional bout in her homeland of Puerto Rico. Not a boxer to back down to any opponents, “The Real Deal” is stepping into the DiBella ring with a real prospect for this scheduled 8-round contest.
Making the trip to PR to face the 4-time, 3-division champion is Edina “DNA” Kiss (6-0, 3 KOs) of Budapest, Hungary.
Kiss has been on a roll since turning professional on October 31, 2015, reeling off 6 straight. She has been very active in the last two months with 4 bouts, 3 won by stoppages. She has accepted the matchup and is coming to make a statement. The challenger is also ranked #6 in the world, behind Serrano, WBA & WBC Champ Jelena Mrdjenovich, former WBA & WBC champ Edith Matthysse, former WIBA champ Carla Torres, and IBF champ Jennifer Han. In the rankings, she is sitting higher than UBF champ Shelly Vincent and WBC Silver title (newly awarded) holder Ronica Jeffrey (whom both were in action this weekend).
As the first female matchup to ever be the Main Event on a Puerto Rico boxing card, this bout is going to be explosive and special for at least one of these women.
