In front of a packed crowd at the Gymnase Luis Ortiz in Saint-Dizier, France, World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens World Light Flyweight Champion Anne Sophie Da Costa made a successful second defense of her title on Saturday night, November 26.

Looking determined and focused from the start, Da Costa quickly made it clear that she was not going to let Tanzanian challenger Fatuma Yazidu gain any momentum, and she effectively forced the 25-year-old from Dar Es Salaam on the back-foot.

Putting on a performance of total dominance, 34-year-old Da Costa out-classed Yazidu in every department, and it soon appeared only a matter of time before the sharp punches to body and head would wear down the game but out-gunned African.

Trying her best was not enough for Yazidu, and as round four came to an end she looked very distraught and bewildered as she made her way back to her corner. It was a clear sign of things to come, as she retired at the start of round five, complaining of pain as a result of well-placed body shots from the champion.

Referee Toni Tiberi waved the contest off at 0:01 of round five, making Da Costa the winner by technical knockout. Also a former WBF World Strawweight Champion, she improved her professional record to 22-2 (10) in the process, while Yazidu falls to 11-3 (4).
