From MTK Global:
VIDEO: CAMERON FIRES WARNING TO TAYLOR
Chantelle Cameron isn’t waiting around for Katie Taylor, but is extremely confident of beating her when they do eventually meet.
Unbeaten star Cameron (11-0, 7 KOs) steps up to super-lightweight to face former world champion Anahi Ester Sanchez (19-4, 11 KOs) on a massive #MTKFightNight at York Hall on November 9, live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on iFL TV.
‘Il Capo’ is already the mandatory for the WBC lightweight title, and a victory over Sanchez would now put her in line for a crack at Jessica McCaskill’s WBC and WBA super-lightweight belts.
Cameron is focused on her own path and is relishing the chance to face Sanchez, but knows that when the opportunity comes she has what it takes to defeat Taylor.
Cameron told mtkglobal.com: “I can’t wait to fight. It feels like ages ago since I was in the ring even though it was July. I love fighting and I can’t wait to get in there.
“Sanchez is a worthy opponent and knows her stuff so it’s a good step up for me. She’s a former world champion so I need to beat her to see where I’m at. I can’t be shouting at these world champions if I can’t beat her, so it will be a good test.
“I’ll be a lot more powerful at this weight. I’ve boxed at 140 and felt comfortable. I don’t want to be waiting around for the Katie Taylor fight as I’ve got my own career to think of, so it’s great that MTK Global have got me this opportunity at the weight above because it’s not all about waiting for Katie.
“Katie is obviously the dream fight in the future. It’s the fight I want and I feel like I’m capable of winning. She’s got all of the belts so I want to be undisputed champion. After watching the Delfine Persoon fight I know I can beat Katie, I genuinely believe I can beat her.
“Sanchez is in my way and if I don’t get past her then I’ll have to start at the bottom again. I want to beat her comfortably and prove I’m the best. I’d like a stoppage. Sanchez hasn’t been stopped by Katie or Jessica McCaskill, so if it’s there I’m taking it.”
