Northampton, UK’s Chantelle Cameronb (6-0, 4 KOs) remains undefeated and the IBO Lightweight World Champion after shutting out former world champion Myriam Dellal (15-8-3, 2 KOs) of France on Saturday evening.
Cameron made her IBO title defense at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland in support of Josh Taylor’s WBC Silver defense against Winston Campos, presented by Cyclone Promotions.
Cameron’s power was overwhelming for Dellal, who’s durability and movement was tested but kept her from being stopped in this one-sided onslaught.
After 10 unquestionable rounds of action, the judges scores left the belt with the champion.
Official Scores: 100-90, 100-90, 100-90
Dellal has been a warrior, having never been stopped. But, the 39 year old has endured back-to-back-to-back championship challenges in just the last 4 months. In November, she was dominated by WBC champion Delfine Persoon. Two months later, she challenged IBF Super Featherweight Champ Maiva Houmadouche to a somewhat close decision. Now, this destruction.
Following the bout, there was discussion on challenging WBA Lightweight Champion, Katie Taylor, in a unification bout.
While Taylor is set to face IBF Champion Victoria Bustos in April and then potentially WBO Champion Rose Volante of Brazil, Cameron should look to Belgium’s Persoon for a unification since the WBC Champion is looking for a matchup before Taylor is available later in 2018.
