From the MGM Grand Detroit, Salita Boxing Promoted ShoBox: The Next Generation, Claressa Shields entered the Main Event opposite Szilvia Szabados for the NABF Middleweight Championship.
Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Shields, made her TV debut in a junior title shot in just her second professional bout and within short distance of her hometown of Flint, MI.
Shields (2-0, 1 KO) pounded on Szabados (15-9, 6 KOs) before the bout was stopped after she delivered a vicious left hook to the Hungarian visitor’s grill. Harvey Dock saw how it shuddered Szabado’s head and immediately called a halt to the assault.
Szabados held in strong, continuing to press forward and cut the space, but Shield’s power and precision prevailed.

Claressa Shields:
“It was about respect.”
“I wanted to go out there and show I had power and I wasn’t scared of her. I knew she was tough coming in. That’s why I started going to the body. I was going to get the clean shot in one round and she was going to go, but the ref stopped it in the fourth. A knock out is a knockout. It was exciting.”
“I’m glad everyone came. I took advantage of this great opportunity once again. It’s another step toward winning a world title.”
Szilvia Szabados:
“I’m very sad and heartbroken right now because I only went four rounds and I could have kept going.
“Her hits were not painful. Her right hook got me a lot, I know. I could feel that one.
“I cannot accept the referees decision. But I have to live with it.”
