Darlina Valdez vs. Holley McDaniel was the first Main Event on a card. They fought the longest pro bout by the men’s rules at the time – 15 three-minute rounds and eight-ounce gloves. Beautiful McDaniel, a high school beauty contest winner and mother of a three-year-old, got her nose broken in the 11th round, but continued bravely to the finish (even though she lost the match).
