From WBC:
ESMERALDA MORENO WILL DEDICATE FIGHT TO HER DAUGHTER
Former WBC light flyweight champion, Esmeralda “Joya” Moreno, will try to dethrone Yessica “Kika” Chávez at the International “Oasis Arena Cancun” on July 23rd.
Esmeralda Moreno, who announced a temporary retirement from the ring in order to become a mom, returned stronger and more Determined than ever. On April 30th, she traveled all the way to Europe to defeat the then world champion by majority decision, snatching from her three world crowns.
“For my daughter I am capable of achieving the impossible. I am very sorry for “Kika”, but this crown will be mine and I will dedicate the victory to my daughter. I will fight with absolutely everything I have for her. Larissa Valentina deserves that and more.”
Born in Chimalhuacán, Estado de México, Esmeralda has been through many things to conquer her dreams. She made her pro debut in April 20, 2005. She has shaped a record of 25 wins with 9 KO’s and 6 loses.
Both warriors starred a wonderful bout on February 19th, 2011, with La Joya getting the victory and the WBC light flyweight silver belt, which she defended 5 times to then defeat the Japanese Naomi Togashi at the Gym Miguel Hidalgo in Puebla, for the world crown.
