Friday night’s B.ILO Boxing Night in Lublin, Poland featured Ewa Brodnicka successfully defending her WBO Super Featherweight title for the second time since becoming the full champion.
In a more defensive tussle, Brodnicka (16-0, 2 KOs) kept her unbeaten record in tact as well as kept her strap while facing South Africa’s visiting challenger, Nopipho Bell (8-2-1, 3 KOs).
Brodnicka started out the more aggressive boxer in the opening rounds, attacking and forcing Bell backwards.
Trying to break the control of the match, Bell picked up her game and progressed with some offense of her own. Unfortunately, Bell struggled at finding her range.
Not risking threats as action started to became tight, the combatants met and clinched often.
After 10 rounds of boxing, the fate of the belt was left to the judges to decide the more effective punching.
Official Scores: 97-93, 97-93, 98-92 keeping the WBO belt in the hands of Brodnicka.
After the battle, Brodnicka was quoted, “It was a very difficult opponent and it was difficult to box with. I’m happy, however, that the belt stays with me.”
