From the National Stadium in Warsaw, Ewa Piatkowska (11-1-1, 4 KOs) successfully defended her WBC Super Welterweight belt in a tough match with Maria Lindberg (16-4-2, 9 KOs).
This was the fiercest competition. Both this woman exchanging a lot of punches. The crowd was really enjoying their fight, including in the middle rounds.
In the 5 round, PiÄ…tkowska connected with a big right hook and Lindberg needed to hold on to save and to not be knocked out. It happened again in another round.
Despite twenty months break PiÄ…tkowska showed up her positive side against the tough and still pressing Lindberg.
The Swedish boxer was disappointed with the judges scores because this was a close fight at times. But in my opinion she lost the key last round, what made Piątkowska’s victory possible.
Official Scores: 96-94, 95-95, 96-94 Majority Decision
