The epic rematch between Geovana Peres and Lani Daniels is on, but this time something more is at stake.

It was confirmed on Boxrec yesterday that the two women boxers will face off for the vacant WBO World Light Heavyweight title in Auckland, New Zealand on 30th of March 2019. The event is promoted by Bruce Glozier of Glozier boxing. This is the same World title Joseph Parker won in December 2016. This is the first women’s World title bout in the Light Heavyweight division for the WBO. The last female to hold a World title from New Zealand was Daniella Smith, as she won the first every IBF World Welterweight title in 2010.

Geovana Peres (6 – 1 – 0) who is ranked 1st in WBA, WBO and on Boxrec is the current PBCNZ & NZNBF Light Heavyweight Champion. The 41 year who was originally born in Brazil, got her New Zealand Citizenship this year and proudly represents New Zealand. Peres only defeat was on debut against Sarah Long. Her team has been seeking a rematch with long but was unable to secure the opponent. In her Pro career she has defeated 11th ranked boxer in the world Tessa Tualevao (twice), 3rd ranked boxer Trish Vaka (twice), 4th ranked boxer Nailini helu and her next opponent Lani Daniels earlier this year. Peres defeated Lani Daniels back in March by Split Decision. Peres has kept a tight team with Terry Reid Batchelor Managing and Trainer her, alongside personal trainer Alexey Papyshev.

Lani Daniels (4 – 1 – 0) is currently ranked 10th in WBA and 2nd on Boxrec. She is a multi division New Zealand National Champion, holding the NZPBA Lightweight title and Pro Box NZ Super Middleweight title. Lani and her sister Caroline are multiple New Zealand Amateur Champions. Born in Whangarei, New Zealand, Daniels is a sister of 9 siblings. Now she runs a little boxing gym with her family called Tukaha boxing gym. Her Goal is to be World Champion and one day to face Claressa Shields in the future. Daniels manager and trainer John Conway believes that Lani won the first bout between the two back in march. He thinks that it was a controversial decision and Lani will be coming in prepared.

The undercard is still to be announced, but it will be featuring high class talent like Panuve Helu, Hemi Ahio, David Light and Andrei Mikhailovich. A venue is still to be decided but they are hoping to announce the venue and ticketing information on January 7th. Promoter Bruce Glozier is also in negotiations with a couple of TV Networks to get the event televised.
