“Lupita” Martinez defends her WBC crown this weekend
This Saturday, in Cancun, Quintana Roo, World Boxing Council super flyweight champion, Guadalupe “Lupita” Martinez (17-9-0, 6 ko’s, will try to make the third defense of her belt, when she faces Yulihan “Cobrita” Luna (16-2-1, 2 ko’s).
Martinez surprised the world of boxing by dethroning the experienced Zulina “Loba” Muñoz in May of last year. She has already defended her crown twice, against: Carlota Santos and Irma Garcia.
“Cobrita” Luna got this chance after beating Kandy Sandoval and Arely Valente in her two most recent fights. On November 2014 she traveled to Argentina to defeat Carolina Marcela Gutiérrez and become super bantamweight champion. In August 2015 she drew with Maureen Shea at the Inglewood Forum, since then she has had 4 victories in a row.
