Saturday evening at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, HBO Boxing closes out their boxing series with a Female Boxing Feature Main Event.
Unified Welterweight Champion and Pound for Pound Queen Cecilia Brækhus (34-0, 9 KOs) of Norway defends her WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO Championship belts against two-time championship challenger Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO) of Massachusetts.
Brækhus has been widely criticized for her opponent selection, while sanctioning bodies have made mandatory opponents that have been avoided, a very notable rematch was vacated, to offer opportunity to an Magdziak-Lopes.
The Polish-born challenger has not competed in one year’s time and that bout was a Majority Draw to Natasha Spence. Her biggest tests have not gone in her favor.
While Fight Week festivities have portrayed a well-balanced matchup, will the feature live up to the expectations?
Tune in to HBO Boxing After Dark beginning at 10:20 p.m. ET/PT to catch this unified championship feature as HBO closes out it’s boxing broadcast history with women closing the show.
Official Weights:
Brækhus – 146.8 lbs
Magdziak-Lopes – 146.4 lbs
