From WBC:
“Bonita” and “Bang Bang” ready for combat following sacrifice!
Mexican Brenda “Bonita” Flores and Louisa “Bang Bang Lulu” Hawton, will contest the World Boxing Council female interim minimumweight Championship, at Superfly3 on September 8 in The Inglewood Forum.
The pair, which rejoice in gaudy nicknames, were presented to the Los Angeles press in a training session.
“Well, I am very happy and excited to make my debut in the United States and here in Los Angeles. For me it is truly a dream come true to fight for WBC world championship,” said Flores from Tijuana, adding:
“The difficult part is completed so now it`s time to enjoy the fight. I have to show all my talent in a difficult fight against a rival who was already a world champion and who is a real fighter, but my corner already has a strategy and my speed will be key to victory.
“This is my second chance to contest a world crown and I feel much better prepared for this fight and I do not intend to waste the opportunity they are giving me on this big card.”
Luisa Hawton, who set up her training camp in Los Angeles, is confident her uncompromising preparation will be the key to taking the title back to Australia. She said:
“It was a very big sacrifice to leave my family in Australia to come to the United States to pursue my dream, but it is also a message to my children so they know they can achieve all the goals they have in life.
“I hope to give a great fight, to a good boxer who like any Mexican will come to fight and give everything in the ring. I’m also ready for everything that may occur.”
