From WBC:

Jackie Nava overwhelms Alys Sánchez

Not a fleck or ring rust has corroded the skills of former world champion Jackie Nava, as she irresistibly broke down Venezuela’s Alys Sanchez, emphatically returning an 18-month ring absence.

The taller Venezuelan initially used her greater height and appreciably longer reach, to keep Jackie at bay with long jarring jabs. But Jackie persisted, ducking and weaving, cutting down the distance, connecting with lightning left hooks to the head, and crunching body shots.

The welter of connecting head shots and Jackie’s body of work downstairs, was steadily taking its toll. Alys was visibly slowing signs of fatigue as well as wear and tear, shipping an increasing amount of punishment. A short left hook dug into her ribcage in the seventh considerably and visibly hurt her. Pale and wincing in considerable pain, she indicated she was unable to come out for the eighth round.

Jackie Nava improves her professional record to 34-4-3 with 15 knockouts, while Alys is left with 15-5-1 and 4 knockouts. It was the second triumph of the Mexican over the Venezuelan, because she had already defeated her four years ago.

Jackie made it clear why she is one of the most popular, effective and efficient fighters in Mexican women’s boxing, delighting thousands of fans at the Acapotzalco building, of the Arena Mexico.

I felt very good and this will help my body to improve in my next fight which I hope could be against Mariana. That’s what the public is asking for and that’s what,’ said a youthful 38 years old Jackie.
