From WBC:
JACKIE NAVA IN THE RUNNING
In Mexico City, former world champion and Federal Deputy, Jackie “The Aztec Princess” Nava, announces she`ll run the Governor Marathon in Mexicali, Baja California, with the aim of supporting 51 children who were affected by the earthquakes of September.
Jackie is calling for sponsors and people to join her cause to raise an estimated of 200 thousand pesos on December 17th.
“We have the idea of running a marathon. We want to offer help to provide support. We are very sad for what happened on September 19th. I know in my heart that there are many people who are supporting this cause, many companies are joining and I want to do it too,” said the double world champion who`s one of the finest boxers in Mexican history. Jackie also said:
“This is my way of doing something. Together we can triumph. This an event for which I`m carefully and properly preparing, because it`s not the same to run for boxing than for distance. I`m so very motivated and it’s something I’ve wanted to do it for a long time. I feel very good, as Raul Robles is helping me achieve a very good preparation. We must build up to it with a very good diet and adequate rest, to be ready for the big day.”
Jackie was joined by Antonio Vargas, businessman David Zhou as well as Federico EnrĂquez on behalf of the World Boxing Council (WBC) who on behalf of its President Mauricio Sulaiman, congratulated Jackie for this initiative, which will be supported.
Jackie is also planning and preparing to be back in the ring in her quest for the WBC bantamweight title. She stressed: “Money has never been important for me. The primary factor is the passion for what I do! Mariana Juarez is today the world champion, but I’ve always had this division belt in mind. And I think people would like to see this fight!!! “
