Boston Boxing Promotions has announced the following women’s boxing bouts for Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Castleton Banquet and Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire:
Everett, Massachusetts’ female fighter Shayna Foppiano (2-0-1, 1 KO) will be fighting Ohio’s Crystal Byers in a four-round junior welterweight fight.
Foppiano made her pro debut in 2017 with a first-round TKO in Boston. She fought once in 2018 and 2019 respectively under the umbrella of Jimmy Burchfield’s CES Boxing in Lincoln, Rhode Island with eye-catching “fight of the night” performances against Marine boxer Sarah Click and world-class Muay Thai fighter Kel Santos. She is trained by Joe Lake who has notably worked with contenders such as Dana Rosenblatt, Micky Ward and popular undefeated Lynnfield fighter Dominic Monzione.
“I know Crystal Byers is a tough girl with a lot of power, but I know what we’ve been working on in the gym and I look forward to displaying it against her on January 31st,” said Foppiano.
Crystal Byers will be making her return to New Hampshire after losing a hard-fought decision to Kimberly “The Machine” Wabik earlier this year in Windham. She is an experienced mixed martial artist and kickboxer outside of the confines of traditional boxing. She is also a competitive bodybuilder.
“I’m looking forward to coming back to New Hampshire, and I am preparing to knock Shayna Foppiano out, so the judges won’t be needed,” said Byers.
Undefeated Kimberly “The Machine” Wabik will return to the ring. That evening she will take on Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s Dasha Ragland in a four-round junior welterweight fight.
Wabik (3-0-2) is riding a three fight win streak since beginning her career with back-to-back draws. In her most recent performance, she scored a unanimous decision win over former Golden Gloves champion Jacqueline Boyle.
“I’ve been working hard in the gym with my coaches Eddie Ford and Jose Cetina and am thankful my boxing career has been advancing the way it has recently,” said Wabik. “Dasha Ragland is a formidable opponent with good amateur and professional experience and I look forward to the challenge.”
Ragland is a former Pennsylvania State Golden Gloves Champion and National PAL semi-finalist as an amateur. After struggling to find opposition to compete against her at boxing events close to her home, she has taken to the road and is fearless as she looks forward to fighting in New Hampshire – the site of all five of Wabik’s professional bouts to date.
“I’m traveling all the way up there not to lose and to set it off Boosie said,” said Ragland. “She better bring her A-game ‘cause I’m bringing mine. I’m getting this win by knockout.”
