VINTAGE JELENA TOASTS SUCCESSFUL DEFENCE OF HER WBC BELT IN FRANCE
Drawing on every drop of her considerable experience and crystalizing every grain of her “Rock fort” determination at the Cergy-Pontoise Complex in Valle del Oise, France, Jelena Mrdjenovich (37-10-1, 19 KOs), succesfully defended her WBC featherweight belt by defeating the hitherto unbeaten local Gaelle Amand (14-1, 1 KO), via a split decision.
Mrdjenovich who by no means had things all her own way, having to battle, was savvy in using her extra wingspan reach in defending her WBC female featherweight crown, pacing herself for a strong finale. While younger Gaelle, who was bursting with energy, fought exceptionally hard throughout the entire ten rounds.
