From WBC:
JELENA MRDJENOVICH…REMATCH MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Last Saturday, WBC featherweight champion, Jelena Mrdjenovich fought her fiftieth pro bout and celebrated it with a great unanimous decision victory over the French Stephanie Ducastel.
Recall that these two females fought a nail biting draw, last July 1 in a controversial close fought contest. But not this time!
“I feel very happy with the result, I felt much more relaxed and focused on what I should do inside the ring.
I am a proud champion of the WBC and for me it is very important to demonstrate it, because I am the owner of that belt. Stephanie is a great rival, she resists the blows in an incredible way, because even though she was caught with very powerful combinations, she remained standing.
“It was a very special night for me because it was not only to celebrate my fiftieth fight, but to come out with a clear victory… and that’s just how it was!”
Jelena also says that Cecilia Brækhus, who’s the WBC female welterweight champion, who will fight on the May 5 on the card starring WBC middleweight champ Gennady Gokvkin vs. Vanes Martirosyan, is poised to take a huge step for women’s boxing, because it will be the first woman’s fight televised by HBO.
