El Paso, TX will be alive tonight with Championship Boxing, featuring hometown sweetheart and IBF Featherweight Champion Jennifer Han (13-3-1, 1 KO) defending her title as the Main Event at the Southwest University Park/El Paso Chihuahua’s Baseball Stadium.
This bout will be Han’s first championship defense since she obtained the strap in a commanding Unanimous Decision tussle with Helen Joseph back in September.
Originally slated to defend against Lillian Martinez (20-15, 12 KOs) of the Dominican Republic, an alternate opponent was imposed due to visa issues.
The IBF has approved Calixta Silgado (14-5-3, 9 KOs), of Colombia, to face the defending champion this evening.
Silgado definitely fits the championship demands as she has previously challenged for world titles and keeps at the tops of the rankings. Championship opposition includes: Mayerlin Rivas in January, 2015 for WBA title; Yazmin Rivas in January, 2014 for WBC title; and Alejandra Marina Oliveras in April, 2013 for the WBO title.
