Kali Reis (7-4-1, 3 KOs) of Providence, RI is on the move again, challenging for world champions.
Reis is setup to challenge Hanna Gabriel (14-1-1. 10 KOs) for her WBO Super Welterweight championship in Gabriel’s native Costa Rica on October 16th.
Four of her last few fights have been away from home and for notable and championship bouts.
She last faced one of the P4P best in Christina Hammer (18-0, 8 KOs) in May. The bout took place in Germany for Hammer’s WBO Middleweight strap. Reis was able to make a huge statement by dropping the champion with a vicious right hook in the closing round in the loss.
Reis has also taken the road to face Teresa Perozzi, Sweden’s Mikaela Lauren (25-3, 10 KOs), and Tori Nelson (15-0-3, 1 KO). Reis took on Perozzi (9-5-3, 1 KO) in Perozzi’s homeland of Bermuda. Reis came home with the win and the IBA crown. Her match with Lauren (25-3. 10 KOs) was a Unanimous Decision defeat on neutral ground in Spain, but obviously still closer for fans of her opponent. And her first taste of Championship Boxing was with Nelson (15-0-3, 1 KO) for Nelson’s WIBA title, although in loss.
Regardless of the opponent, Reis always comes to bang and keeps proving her value along the way.
This one shall be explosive.
