Katie Taylor’s Championship Irish Homecoming is put on hold for her second US invasion and opportunity to perform for a greater audience.
Matchroom Boxing is presenting Danny Jacobs and Taylor (8-0, 4 KOs) Showcase at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on April 14th on US’s HBO Boxing Series as well as Sky Sports for fans at home.
Barclays Center is one of the prime and sought after stages of 2018.
Taylor has stepped through the ropes at the venue last summer where she became the first to stop Jasmine Clarkson in the setup fight for her world championship challenge.
In October, Taylor captured the WBA Lightweight title by dominating Argentina’s Anahi Sanchez in the UK.
Six weeks later, she accepted the call out challenge from Chicago’s Jessica McCaskill and endured a tougher challenge than expected in the Unanimous Decision defense.
Now, with three months to go, the opponent is listed as TBA. But, it is believed that the unification match with IBF Lightweight Champion Victoria Bustos (18-4) of Argentina is top choice.
The Lightweight Division is preparing itself for a complete unification after WBC Champion Delfine Persoon’s stay busy win last weekend and anticipated preparation for a unification bout with the Bray Bomber later in 2018 as well.
