Before her last bout on September 26, Light Flyweight Kim Clavel stated that she believed she was three to four matches away from challenging for world championship gold.
Despite a couple of cuts to her face from accidental clashes, Clavel persevered past Xenia Jorneac in a dominant display. Clavel scored a near shutout in the 8-Round affair with scores of 80-72, 79-73, 80-72.
On Saturday, Clavel (10-0, 2 KOs) steps inside the Eye of the Tiger ropes at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to compete for the NABF Light Flyweight Championship against Mexico’s Esmeralda Gaona (7-3).
In her 6th scheduled bout for 2019, Clavel will face Gaona in her first career 10-Round matchup. It will be a 2-minute round bout, with Clavel supporting and being vocal on requesting 3-minute rounds for females.
Clavel has been on a role since leaving the amateur ranks in late December of 2017. Every opponent except one has been above 50% winning percentage, a combined 78 wins in 122 bouts for her 11 foes thus far.
Expect a hard-hitting clash in Quebec on Saturday with potential of Clavel obtaining her first hardware in the paid circuit.
