Colombian Liliana “La Tigresa” Palmera snatched the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight belt from Venezuelan Alys “La China” Sanchez, during the KO Drugs festival held in El Salvador on Saturday night.
Palmera had a good start, as she sent her rival to the canvas in the first round and imposed her pace. This was the case during the first third of the fight. However, “La China” regained ground and began to fight.
There were many exchanges and both boxers showed their desire to win until the last round, in which both fighters knew they should go out to finish the job. Palmera came out more determined, set the pace and won the victory by unanimous decision: 95-94, 95-94 and 97-92.
Thus, the Colombian now has a record of 28 wins, 12 losses, 3 draws and 16 knockouts and becomes WBA World Champion at 122 pounds for the second time.
