From MTK Global:
WHITESIDE FLYING FLAG FOR WOMEN
Female star Lisa Whiteside is excited to once again show just why women’s boxing is going from strength to strength when she has her second professional contest at #MTKFightNight’s event on Friday.
Whiteside (1-0) successfully won her debut back in May, and now the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist is looking to continue the success that the likes of Chantelle Cameron and others have had in recent times.
Whiteside said: “Women’s boxing is in a fantastic place at the moment and that’s why I decided to turn over when I did.
“All of the top girls in the professional ranks are the ones I trained with or was with at tournaments with, such as Chantelle Cameron, Natasha Jonas, Savannah Marshall and Katie Taylor. It’s great to be able to show the world the levels that we are at.
“Due to my style of boxing being aggressive and strong, I’ve loved it as a professional. Having no head guard and smaller gloves plays into my hands.
“It felt a bit strange in my debut to go from three minute rounds down to two minute rounds, but again its just about adapting and the more rounds the better.”
Friday’s bill at the Macron Stadium features former British light-heavyweight champion Hosea Burton, along with the likes of Mike McGoldrick, Ross Cooksey, Amin Jahanzeb, Macaulay McGowan and many more.
