INSPIRED “BARBY” VOWS TO DEFEAT ZAMBIA`S PHIRI
Mariana “Barby” Juarez is vowing to become the first Mexican female boxer to win titles in three different weight divisions, on April 1st in front of 50,000 of her fans in Mexico City`s giant Zocalo plaza, against World Boxing Council bantamweight Champion Catherine Phiri.
Exuding a glow, self belief and determination tempered by due respect for the current champion Mariana said: “This is a dream come true, as well as a great responsibility against a very strong rival. But I do believe this is the best moment to fight Catherine in my country and in front of my people. Thank you so much to the World Boxing Council for this opportunity.
“I know Catherine Phri is very strong. She has sweated and she`s bled to reach where she is right now. Zambia is undergoing hardships, and Catherine has had to overcome difficulties and challenges in her life, that have made her resolute and tough. I understand Catherine will defend the title with all of her ability and all of her heart. But I`m telling you now, that it`ll be my arms raised in victory and I pledge that the green and gold belt will indeed stay here in Mexico.
“This is a phenomenon towards which I`m working as hard as I`ve ever done, and it`ll lead to success! I`m building muscle, I`ll use strength, lots of speed and determination, but also intelligence to win. This will be in front of 50,000 fans. All I can say is WOW!”
Mariana made this calm but resolute victory pledge during a tour of the Pediatric Hospital of Tacubaya in Mexico City. On April 1st world class super middleweight Marco Antonio Periban, who`s Mariana`s boyfriend will be in her corner, offering expert advise and heartfelt encouragement, while tens of thousands of her fans on the other side of the ropes, will be roaring, cheering and willing her on!
