From WBC:
LEO SANTACRUZ AND MARICELA CORNEJO #BAT4HOPE
Leo Santacruz and Maricela Cornejo proudly represent the World Boxing Council at Adrian Gonzalez’ 2nd Annual #Bat4Hope Celebrity Softball game at Dodgers Stadium in benefit of Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer). Both fighters are in training camp but when asked if they’d like to participate in this Charity event, without hesitation both agreed.
“I’m currently going through Cancer in my Family, as many of you know, my Dad was diagnosed earlier this year before my fight against Frampton. It’s tough to see my Dad have his good and bad days. I can’t even imagine a child. I’m honored to be here today to bring Childhood Cancer Awareness and will always be here to help. God bless all the families going through this and that have gone through it. It takes a lot of strength.” – Leo Santacruz
“Two days Before my WBC World Title fight, I lost my little friend, my motivation, Justin Gonzalez. His strength to live truly inspired me, I fight for him and all the children and families going through this illness. Justin will forever hold a piece of my heart, I will always honor and remember him. Being here today is an honor, its my way of giving back for all Justin gave me. Thank you PADRES for the invitation, I will always proudly be here to help in any way I can. God bless all the children and families.” – Maricela Cornejo
Leo Santacruz was part of Taboo’s Team Courage and Maricela Cornejo was part of Adrian Gonzalez Team Hope. Which demanded a face-off between the two Champs and the fans loved it! It was an great, fun day out at Dodgers Stadium, all the celebrities had a great time raising money and awareness for PADRES CONTRA EL CANCER.
