The boxing card that was held at “El Tesoro” Mall Convention Center last Saturday had a great attendance. The public enjoyed four fights, including Mayerlín Rivas’, the World Boxing Association (WBA) Bantamweight Champion.
Mayerlín Rivas only needed one round to defeat her rival Maria Andrea Mirada and, thus, focus on her next match on November 2, when she will defend her WBA belt against Antioquia’s Dayana Cordero, Interim Champion at 118 pounds.
“I would like to have fought a bit more due to the inactivity of over a year. However, I saw that I could finish the fight early and I did it”, said “La Monita”.
However, the fight that made the audience shake was starred by Venezuelan Leonardo Padilla and Panamanian Daniel Miranda, who fought for the WBA-Fedebol Super Featherweight Title. Both boxers exchanged blows and got hurt. The public enjoyed the actions, but in the end, the best boxing technique was imposed by the South American, who obtained the victory by unanimous decision.
“I feel that the inactivity struck me, he was a great rival, but I managed to impose my technique. I do not deny that at one point I thought I would abandon the fight, but my corner managed to recover me and now I am the WBA-Fedebol Champion. God willing, in less than a year I will have a World title”, said Padilla.
In other results, the Venezuelan Yonfrez Parejo defeated Colombian Elkin Rosario by knockout in the second round, while Cristian Báez, also Venezuelan, knocked out the Colombian Luis Días Marmon in the third round, although he had managed to knock him down in the first round.
