Lightweight prospect Mikaela Mayer (5-0, 3 KOs) of Southern California, is back in action on Top Rank’s Saturday ESPN+ broadcast at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mayer has faced quality opposition in her young professional career and Saturday follows the trend when she squares off with Canada’s unbeaten Sheena Kaine (5-0, 1 KO) of Edmonton, Alberta.
“Top Rank continues to put me on amazing cards with the best talent in boxing. Fighting in Oklahoma City is the perfect opportunity to meet more boxing fans and give them an exciting show as I continue my journey to a world championship!” cited Mayer.
Only being professional for just over 10 months, Mayer has made significant statements. 2018 has been stellar for Mayer, disposing of Maria Semertzoglou (7-4, 2 KOs) within the 1st Round
Mayer, who is making her third ring appearance of 2018, is on the fast track to a world title shot. In her last bout, May 12 on the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Jorge Linares card in New York City, she shut out the game Baby Nansen over six rounds. The Los Angeles native opened her 2018 campaign on March 10 in Carson, California, with a 35-second knockout over Maria Semertzoglou at the StubHub Center in March before shutting out Baby Nansen (6-3-1) on the Lomachenko/Linares May showcase at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Look for Mayer to dominate the untested, yet undefeated Canadian on Saturday.
