Lightweight prospect Mikaela Mayer (6-0, 3 KOs) of Southern California keeps on crushing the competition.
On Friday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mayer handed Canadian Sheena Kaine (5-1, 1 KO) her first defeat.
Mayer was in command all 6 rounds of action, pounding with a right.
A heavy overhand right crumpled Kaine to the canvas in the 2nd Round but the punishing did not stop. Kaine returned to her feet to continue the receiving of overpowering rights through the 12 minutes of action.
Official Scores: 60-53, 60-53. 60-53
After the bout, Mayer stated, “It was definitely a different fight than I’ve ever had. She was taller than me and had more strength than most of the girls I’ve fought.” She continued, “She’s not technically sound, but when she did throw her shots it was a good thing my hands were up because I could definitely feel them. This was a great learning experience.”
Mayer has been an overpowering force thought 6 bouts, except from the viewpoint of Judge John Basile who scored her 3rd bout even with veteran Nydia Feliciano back in December.
