From MTK Global:
JONAS EARNS HUGE WORLD TITLE SHOT
Tasha Jonas will challenge Terri Harper for the WBC super-featherweight world title in Doncaster on April 24.
Liverpool’s ‘Miss GB’ Jonas (9-1, 7 KOs) bids to make more history at the Doncaster Dome – live on Sky Sports in the UK and on DAZN in the US – on a bill that also stars unbeaten world-ranked MTK Global team-mate Chantelle Cameron.
Jonas said: “This means everything. I got back into the professional side of boxing because I think there were things I didn’t achieve as an amateur that I wanted to. I’m trying to do so as a pro so I can say I’m happy with what I did.
“It’ll be tough. It always is. This is a tough sport. I just think I can do it. It’ll be a dream come true.
“From what I’ve seen, Terri is young, fit and hungry. She’s explosive and quick and I rate her skill-wise as a boxer. I just obviously think I’m better!
“I’m not going to give away any game plan and I’m sure she thinks she’s seen weaknesses in me too but I won’t really talk about her weaknesses – it’s more about my strengths. If I enforce what I’m best at then what she’s good at won’t be relevant.”
Meanwhile, Cameron (12-0, 7 KOs) is mandatory challenger for the WBC lightweight and super-lightweight titles and will look to tee up a world title shot on the night.
Cameron said: “It’s been a while since I’ve boxed so I’m ecstatic to have a date. It’s great to get stuck in to 2020.
“I’m hoping for a good tough opponent to test myself against. I want to keep on the ball now and keep busy. I’m looking for big fights.
“Women’s boxing is flying now. It’s all thanks to teams like MTK Global and Eddie Hearn – the promoters are giving us women a chance. It’s getting better.”
