From WBC:

Nurshahidah Roslie, a Singapore boxing star

On any given day you could be forgiven for wondering what drives 31-year Singaporean pugilist, Nurshahidah Roslie, in her daily grind at Singapore’s Juggernaut Boxing Gym: come hail or shine the boxer known as ‘The Sniper’ pours sweat and tears in her dedicated hunt to become a WBC world champion.

The journey to glory in the pro ranks began back in February of 2016 when Nurshahidah made her debut against Malaysian opposition, in a contest she dominated to take home a unanimous points victory.

Seven fights into her career, she squared off against Thailand’s Siriphon Chanbuala for the WBC Asia featherweight title. The power that Nurshahidah possesses soon became evident as she disposed of her challenger with a third round knockout victory. Job done and her first WBC Asia title was in the bag.

The year 2018 witnessed Singapore’s star boxing athlete push herself to a new challenge when she dropped down to super-bantamweight to face off against another Thai boxer, this time the opponent was Kanchana Tungthaisong, herself a former WBC Silver champion. The outcome was another KO victory for Nurshahidah and another WBC Asia title to her collection.

Two WBC Asia titles and an undefeated 2019 has lead Miss Roslie to her shot at a coveted World Boxing Council Silver title against 22-year old Chinese boxer Fan Yin, in what the makings a sensational boxing encounter.

The Silver title contest is the next planned step before the ultimate prized accolade of contesting for a prestigious World Boxing Council super-bantamweight world title. A tricky test against a gritty Chinese boxer stands in the way of that route to glory.

The showdown in Singapore with China’s undefeated Fan Yin will take place at the Foo Chow Stadium on Saturday the 28th of September. Will the power of Singapore overcome the will and grit of China?
