Friday, September 15th in Rosemont, IL, local Welterweight Sarah Curran (1-1) returns to action in front of her home crowd and at the same venue where she earned her first professional win on the undercard of Hitz Boxing and Round 3 co-promoted Rosemont Rumble.
This installment of Rosemont Rumble features Light Heavyweights Mike Lee stepping in with Aaron Quattrocchi for 10-Round tussle, as well as Middleweights Vitalii Kopylenko and Travis Scott banging for 8 Rounds. The feature bouts will be aired live on CBS Sports Network.
This female matchup pits “Savage” Curran looking to continue her winning ways against a tough, 3-time amateur national champion Jenna Johlin Thompson (1-0-1) of Toledo, OH.
Curran is coming back to Rosemont after a dominating performance in a Unanimous Decision win over boxer/kickboxer Amanda Ginski at the Dome at the Ballpark.
Her opponent is coming in from Ohio after an August 2016 brawl with unbeaten Shianne Gist that ended even on the scorecards.
Both boxers have provided feedback on outstanding camps:
“This camp was much different then last camp. I feel like I put in a great camp, and didn’t over work myself which I think is showing positive vibe to this last week in camp. I feel sharp and completely focused. This camp is completely different then my last ones and I still feel in shape from my last camp so that an even bigger plus. A majority of my camp has been done with Sam Colonna’s fighter Catharine Aiura, she is a two time Golden Gloves Champion, and open fighter, that travels & fights in big tournaments/national competitions. She was a perfect partner for this fight & keeps a constant pressure which has upped my cardio a ton! I also had a few sessions with my team mates at Team Curran Corey Galloway, Alejandro Moyano, and Tim Cho. These guys are always great work and help build me to be better.” stated Curran.
“My training is going great. I trained with some of the best fighters in the world – Sonny Fredrickson and Tyler McCreary. We have an up & coming female 130 pounder who is also a past national champ & my sparring partner. Our gym is undefeated. I have one of the best trainers in the world.” cited Johlin.
This #WomenofBoxing Welterweight prospect matchup can certainly be destined to be “Match of the Night” on Friday! Both are prepared for war and determined to notch their second win.
Johlin reiterated, “My training and experience gives me confidence in the ability to succeed in the fight. I am a warrior. I will win!”
Savage Curran closes with: “Friday I’m hoping to show even more on how much I’ve progressed and evolved as a fighter. I’m very excited to show case what I’ve been working for and excited for a exciting fight. All I can say is I am grateful to be healthy and ready to fight. I thank everyone who has supported me as far as training, buying tickets ect. I’m ready to fight, and put on a show with the rest of the fighters.”
Good luck ladies! We will see you ringside!
