The holidays start a little early in Chicago with Hitz Boxing’s Belvedere Bash at the Belvedere in suburban Elk Grove Village. Bobby Hitz brought back his Pre-Tranksgiving, Black Wednesday edition of boxing in 2018 and installed Curran as a main feature.

“Savage” Curran (3-1-1) just fought less than two months ago for the ABF Championship in a rematch with her debut and extremely tough opponent, Bertha Aracil (4-0-1, 3 KOs). Many saw that as a clear win except for two of the scoring judges who scored a 57-57 draw.

Knowing the true result and showing that she could truly avenge her only loss of her young career, it is time to move forward.

Moving forward gave another great opportunity in jumping right back into action on November 21st close to home.

Wednesday’s matchup will be the ABF’s fight championship in Illinois and will pit Curran against another Welterweight prospect, Shianne Gist (4-0-2, 2 KOs) of East Liverpool, OH.

A common denominator with Gist is one of her draw opponents. She faced Jenna Johlin Thompson in 2016, a straight draw across the board. Johlin-Thompson’s next opponent was Curran, who handed her the first loss of her career, a complete destruction on the score cards.

Another intriguing stat on Curran, her opponent list still consists of boxers without a loss, while dealing three opponent’s their first loss, including powerhouse and former olympian Edith Ogoke.

Wednesday’s Turkey Feast warm-up will be a interesting 6-Rounder.

Here is a little conversation I had to with Curran ahead of Wednesday’s matchup:

How was Camp for this ABF Championship?
“This camp was a very easy transition, because I’ve had to back to back fights prior to this one. I started working with my new conditioning coach Shelly Morgan and now we are going into out second camp together with even better results from our first camp. My coach Doug Mango and his business partner, Brian Norris, opened up the new gym Mango Combat Sports & the team that they are building has never made me feel more at home and excited to get ready for fights.”

This is your 6 pro fight and and against all unbeaten opposition. How is this match different from the previous matchup?
“I think every fighter is different, and fighters make fights.”

“With every fight and camp, I feel better and better. I am fit and ready to take this championship home!”

What do you know of Gist and how prepared are you for this unbeaten (4-0-2) opponent?
“Gist is a busy fighter and she seems to be in good shape. My camp has me ready for this fight and we worked very hard so we are prepared for whatever Gist and her camp brings to the table. With that being said being in there with Bertha Aracil the second time around has really built me physically to be in the ring with any contender, her being one of the top contenders. I’m ready and I want that belt!”

What message are you planning on making in this Black Wednesday Welterweight showdown?
“My message I’d like to make is that I belong as a WELTERWEIGHT & truly believe I’m a rising competitor and I am happy to fight at this weight instead of super Welterweight.”

After winning the ABF Championship, what are Savage’s plans for the Holidays?
“I’d like to spend time with my family and husband! His birthday is on my fight day so I’d like to give him a good performance and enjoy the holidays with family, friends, and my team!!!”

“I want to say thank you to my husband for being such a great sport and supporting through these last three camps and wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

Any works for fans, sponsors, supporters?
“Huge thanks to my mom & dad as well as my in-laws for helping sell tickets, buying tickets, and believing in me! Thank you Doug & Brian for letting me be a huge part of MANGO COMBAT SPORTS! I love our home! Thank you Catharine Aiura, Deon Johnson, and Mikey Infelise for your support and sparring!!! Thanks to my Corporate Disk fam for supporting me in all my fights and covering time I need off! Thank you to all my sponsors! Thank you AMERICAN BOXING FEDERATION for a second chance at the belt! Last but not least thank you Bobby Hitz for putting yet on another great fight card!”
