At the Rising Star Casino, in Rising Sun, IN, Nate Tubbs Events & Promotions brings the second go around of young hard-hitting Super Welterweights “Savage” Sarah Curran (3-1) of McHenry, IL and Bertha “The Cuban Princess” Aracil (4-0, 3 KOs) of Yonkers, NY.
In July of 2016, these two went 4 emphatic rounds of action on the other side of the state of Indiana on Hitz Boxing show at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond. Aracil outpointed the young and feisty pro-debuter.
Former Heavyweight boxer-turned-promoter, Nate Tubbs, started this card with Aracil in search for a championship opponent. The bout was promoted as for the vacant American Boxing Federation (ABF) USA Super Welterweight Championship.
Knowing Curran wanted to hopefully avenge her debut loss, I was immediately suggesting Curran (Maiden Name – French, at time of debut). The wheels started turning immediately and contacts from made followed by contracts signed.
The ABF is a fairly new nationally sanctioned organization and has been making championships in rapid succession.
Curran has been amped at the opportunity and is acknowledgable training like a true professional, having run the tables in her last 3 matches and against quality opposition.
I caught up with “Savage” this week to talk about Curran/Aracil I to Saturday’s Rematch.
“Losing to someone at that high level, has changed me as a fighter and humbled me for how I approach my camps.”
“Since then I am on a 3 fight wins streak and I have changed my mindset, my eating patterns, the way I think, and train in a more beneficial manner.”
“For this camp, I did not have time for mistakes. I have trained like a champion!”
“I do not feel pressured for this fight. I am not stressed. I am excited to go, have fun, and be me!”
“I am not going to lie… With (Edith) Ogoke (fight on June 8, 2018), she was a big bitch! When I felt her punching power, I was pressured. I did not fight her good. But, Ogoke was more hungry in there than anyone I have faced. Ogoke came into that fight in the best shape she ever could have. She is a force to be reckoned with. Regardless, I got the W and here we are today!”
“I want to win that title! I have my second chance (at Aracil and revenge on the L), the title is a plus of all pluses. What fighter does not want a belt? That is the end goal.”
“This fight could not be any more perfect. Not only is it a rematch, so that I can get that second chance at getting my win back, but it is also for a belt. We are both at 4 fights each, so it is perfect on paper and story-wise.”
Official Weights for Saturday:
