September 2014’s Boxer of the Month: TORI NELSON

Lately, month after month, fans have been pushing #BotM to be favoring the #WomenofBoxing side. September was another clear indication of where the sport’s movers are coming from as Tori Nelson won the honor for a third time.

Nelson defended her world title in front of a hometown crowd against a tough former MMA athlete in Australian Arlene Blencowe. The challenger came out strong from the opening bell, posing a serious threat. Nelson took control as her defense and counters took center stage. This championship bout was tougher than expected and was to be determined by the judges. With scores 96-94, 96-94, 93-97, Nelson retained her title and undefeated record.

Nelson’s notable honors with #theBIZ include: September 2013 #BotM, June 2014 #BotM, September 2014 #BotM, and current #5 on #theRankings for #WomenofBoxing Marketability.

Nelson continues to climb the rankings. The fans keep flocking to her support.

We have learned that the Champ is slated to defend her title again on November 15th in Fairfax, VA.
