Unbeaten Champions Katie Taylor (11-0, 5 KOs) and Eva Wahlström (22-0-1, 3 KOs) will square off on Saturday Night at Madison Square Garden for Taylor’s WBA and IBF Lightweight belts.
Within just over 2 years of professional status, the “Bray Bomber” Taylor will be competing in her 12 bout and making her fifth defense of the WBA title and third defense of the IBF crown and taking on another quality opponent in WBC Super Featherweight Champion Wahlström.
Always a fan favorite and growing inspiration to young boxing females, Taylor keeps on trucking with her young impressive career that has seen victories over champions Anahi Sanchez, Victoria Bustos, and her latest triumph over Cindy Serrano.
Wahlström’s eight years of experience has given her notable victories former champion Dahiana Santana, Zarika Fatuma, while dealing first defeats to former EBU Champion Djemilla Gontaruk as well as Taylor’s first title holding victim Sanchez.
In April, Finland’s Wahlström edged out a controversial Majority Decision win over Melissa St. Vil where the referee ruled a suspect slip in a potential knockdown that would have altered the scoring result.
Someone’s unbeaten record is on the line. While Wahlström is always fit on fight nights, Taylor’s skillset could be too much for the Helsinki visitor on Saturday.
