After 13 months without a match and now with a new team behind her, “Swedish Princess” Klara Svensson (18-2, 6 KOs) returned to active status with a clear dominance over Mari Tatunashvili (2-2-2, 1 KO), of Georgia, with a 4th round stoppage.
In a scheduled 8-Round matchup on Sauerland Promotion show at the Inselparkhalle in Hamburg, Germany, Svensson pressed through an unmatched opponent with quick hands.
After the referee stopped the one-sided beating, Svensson spoke on her comeback to the ring and what the future holds.
Svensson:
“It felt like a good test of the new setup with the new coaches. Feels like I found my boxing skills where I started many years ago.”
“It has always been natural for me, as a boxer, to start from my long jab, but when I was to meet Laurén we worked in a different style. I feel stronger when I go out of lead with my jab.”
“Absolutely it was a match to win, but I know that when you get up in a ring it’s definitely not so obvious. She was not there to give up even if there would be a difference in class. But I’m proud that I could show off the class difference and win ahead of time.”
“Right now I’ll take it easy for a while. Tomorrow I will go home to Berlin and next week to Malmö. Then we’ll see. I take one match at a time. I want to get up to the level where I used to be.”
Hoping for a rematch with P4P #1 and Unified Champion Cecilia Brækhus, “It is a very nice scenario, seen from my perspective, but it’s probably forced with an eliminator before it’s time.”
