Having never turning down a fight, WBC Super Lightweight Champion Erica Farias (262., 10 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina came North for the second time in her prolific and highly successful professional career. In 2014, “La Pantera” Farias edged out Alejandra Oliveras in Cancun, Mexico to start her reign of the WBC Super Lightweight championship after a 4 year dominance in the Lightweight division.
Farias signed as the opponent to Matchroom Boxing USA’s Chicago show slot provided to local title challenger Jessica McCaskill (5-3, 2 KOs), originally from St. Louis, MO.
CasKilla caught Eddie Hearn’s eye in her attempt and subsequent challenge to newly crowned WBA Lightweight Champion Katie Taylor last December. McCaskill put up a hard-fought challenge in her first World Title bout.
Now, she is prepared for the next biggest fight of her career, against the long-term champion Farias.
McCaskill is looking to become the first world champion in Chicago since Leatitia “Baby Girl” Robinson (15-1, 9 KOS) held the WIBA Middleweight World Championship from 2002 to 2006.
With high hopes and preparations, McCaskill has a high mountain to climb. This is her first bout at Super Lightweight, moving up from Lightweight. And… challenging the woman that has fought the best of the best.
In almost 10 years of competing, Farias has faced everyone at Lightweight, from Melissa Hernandez, Liliana Palmera, Gary, IN’s Mary McGee, Victoria Bustos, current WBC Lightweight Champion Delfine Persoon to Welterweights Klara Swensson and Unified Champion Cecilia Brækhus.
DAZN will stream the bout live as part of their 10 bout show if you are not in Chicago area on Saturday evening. Find details on DAZN and start your free trial at https://watch.dazn.com/
