“My name is Bec Connolly ‘Lady Luck’ and THIS IS MY STORY!”
Who is Bec Connolly?
“I’m a Super Featherweight. I box under Coach and Manager Paddy Fitzpatricks in Swindon, Wiltshire, United Kingdom.”
“I beat Poland’s Monika Antonik over 4 x 3 minute rounds 40-36 in my pro debut (September 29, 2017). We wanted to make the statement we can fight 3 min rounds just like the men).”
Who is Team Connolly?
“Paddy’s been a huge part of mine and the children’s lives since then. My coach, mentor and friend. There’s no one else I would rather have guiding me through the professional ranks. We have traveled up and down the country fight after fight to get the experience I needed. I fell head over heels in love with boxing and there is no other sport that I would rather be doing. I think if the fights in you, it’s in you and no mater what you end up where you are meant to be.”
“I have 4 children at home not only counting on me for everything, but rooting for me every single fight.”
Outside of the ring, what interests Bec?
“I love to write and compete in Crossfit and Long distance events.”
Connolly is a Nutrition Coach and Personal Trainer with All or Nothing Fitness.
Of all sports, why boxing?
“Boxing kind of stole my heart. I grew up a boxing fan – mainly Tyson back then but was fighting Judo from the age of 6.”
“Fighting gave me a complete escape from my home life growing up in an alcoholic home. I got hurt quite badly in last competition when I broke my collar bone and dislocated my shoulder. I returned to fighting briefly after that but was never really as confident again after that and didn’t have the guidance that I have now in boxing. It was my one regret going forward that I didn’t make a career out of fighting and it niggled at me until I changed that.”
“My 20s were taken up in a very abusive marriage and at 27 yrs old I found myself completely on my own, broke, divorced with 4 children under 5 years old. It was the point that was going to break me or I could fight like hell, and I haven’t stopped since.”
“I have worked tirelessly day in day out every second to make this dream a reality. I’m totally blessed that I walked into a boxing gym at that point in my life.”
Who inspires you?
“I, of course, have women in the sport that I look up to and aspire to be like.”
“I think Christina Hammer is an absolutely quality athlete and classy boxer.”
“As a single Mother also Heather Hardy has been a big inspiration to myself.”
“At the end of the day, I’m just trying to be the best role model I can be for my children whilst earning a living doing what I love.”
Goals?
“My aim is to get a shiny title to my name by the end of 2018 and I think with my relentless work ethic and a world class coach in Paddy. Anything is achievable.”
What’s next for Bec Connolly?
“Next fight details to be confirmed shortly …..”
“We are now looking to fight the next few fights in quick succession to move my way up the Featherweight and/or lightweight rankings. Happy to fight away from home.”
