Both Jessica McCaskill (3-1, 2 KOs) and Natalie Brown (6-2, 4 KOs) made the contracted weight for the American Boxing Organization’s InterContinental Lightweight Championship.
Originally from St. Louis, Chicago resident Jessica McCaskill will put on for her city in her first Main Event feature, riding a two bout win streak that includes a huge Unanimous Decision victory over former WIBA Champion Carla Torres in January. Wins have also included dominating performances over a Brenda Gonzales (then 4-1) and a couple debut boxers with strong sports backgrounds. The only blemish is to amateur national champion Toni Fisher in June of last year.
Brown heads south of the border, from her adopted home in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada for her first official match in over four years.
While on paper, this matchup looks to be a breezy. It will be no cakewalk.
“Sugar” came down in phenomenal shape and lighter than she has ever competed in her career. Last in competition in 2012, she scored a 2nd Round TKO over battle-tested Tammie Johnson. Prior to that was, Brown had strong showing in 5 wins in 7 bouts. The two defeats were close decision L’s against decent opponents on foreign land.
Finally landing this bout was important to Brown, looking to regain boxing momentum. Form is already there from consistent and persistent training over the years while in search for the matches.
Official weights:
Jessica McCaskill – 134 lb
Natalie Brown – 134 lb
