On Saturday night in Munich, Germany, WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion Christina Hammer (22-0, 10 KOs) crushs Gifty Amanua Ankrah (7-5-1, 5 KOs) of Ghana in what could be the stay busy championship bout before heading across the Atlantic Ocean to debut in the US and the destined matchup against two-time Olympic gold medalist and WBC Super Middleweight champion Claressa Shields.
Having previously been matchup with world champions, South African Noni Tenge and German Nikki Adler, Ankrah came into this championship match looking to turn her championship misfortune around.
The much taller force standing in Ankrah’s way was much to strong and fast for the challenger.
“Lady” Hammer sat poised with her counterpunches, proved precise with her jabs, and setup the fiery combinations.
A spray of head shots ended with a solid straight right planted Ankrah’s nose, sent her to the canvas as the 4th Round was coming to a close. Despite struggling to her feet, the referee saw her unfit to continue and counted her out. Official Time of the Stoppage: 2:00 of the 4th Round.
Hammer cited, “I have never felt a harder head than hers (Ankrah). My hands are hurting.”
Commenting on the near future plans, Hammer stated, “It was a good test and a nice warm-up for my trip to the US. I am looking forward to finally fighting in America. I hope Claressa Shields watches the tape of this fight so she knows what’s coming for her.”
The Middleweight Champion is planning for her US debut for January 2018. Details will be coming very soon.
