From Sauerland Promotions:
WBC interim World title on the line for Laurén and Svensson
The interim WBC Female World Welterweight title will be on the line for Mikaela Laurén (27-3, 12 KOs) and Klara Svensson (16-1, 5 KOs) when they square-off in their hotly anticipated domestic showdown on September 10 at the Hovet in Stockholm.
The belt will give extra significance to an already huge fight for the Swedish rivals, which has also been confirmed as a final eliminator to face Norwegian boxing queen Cecilia Braekhus for her unified welterweight titles.
“This is a great opportunity for both fighters to get their hands on the WBC’s prestigious interim World title. It will also solidify their position as the mandatory challenger for Cecilia Brækhus’ World titles,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland.
“This fight has already attracted a huge amount of attention from the Swedish public, and we expect the interest to continue to grow as fight night approaches. Tickets are selling fast and we look forward to welcoming a capacity crowd to the Hovet to witness this historic event.”
The female fighters came face-to-face for the first time since the fight’s announcement earlier this week at a tense press conference in Stockholm. Laurén likened her rival to a mosquito and vowed to knock her out, while Svensson promised to silence Laurén with her superior boxing skills.
