Along with Matchroom Boxing’s WBC and WBA Unified Super Lightweight rematch between champion Jessica McCaskill and Erica Farias, Wintrust Arena in Chicago will be treated with a 4 Round Welterweight matchup featuring competitors with a total of 5 amateur national championships.

18 year old Summer Lynn will be making her professional debut after closing her unpaid boxing career with another Junior National Champion (2017 and 2019).

Assuming that a youth boxer has accumulated national titles and the Olympics nearing, one would assume that this national qualifier would be shooting for 2020 just like her stablemate Kim Carlson. But Lynn stated, “It has never been my dream. I have always wanted to be pro.” She added, “I just graduated high school this spring and am attending DePaul University and juggling my potential boxing career. Olympics just did not appeal enough to fit into my agenda.”

Lynn’s opponent is a solid challenger in Jenna Johlin (1-2-1) of Toledo, OH. Johlin has amateur accolades of herown, being a 3 time national champion before settling down with life and raising her daughter. After turning professional in 2015, she has not settled for slouch opponents, while unfortunate to have taken losses in her last tow bouts. In 2017, she came to Chicagoland area to suffer her first loss to 2019 world championship challenger Sarah Curran, and a Majority Decision defeat to Jessica Camara last November. Even while inactive inside the ring, she is active training today’s young, tomorrow’s champions. She will be ready to bang.

When asked about her matchup with Johlin, Lynn responded, “I do not worry about my opponent. My team does all the preparation work for me.”

As for Lynn’s goals… obviously, everyone wants to win world titles as that long-term goal, Lynn cited her short-term goals as: “Pass all my classes. Classes are already challenging. Juggle class and training and take every opportunity that comes my way.

This is a great opportunity to start a career, in front of hometown family, friends, DePaul classmates, and all new fans. We wish Lynn luck!
