For some time now, Layla McCarter (41-13-5, 11 KOs) has been the mandatory opponent for Pound 4 Pound and undisputed Queen Cecilia Brækhus by at least one of the major titles she holds. But Brækhus keeps toying with hypotheticals while chasing dollars and dreams.
So Mayweather Promotions’ McCarter finds her own fights, heading to Karlsruhe, Germany this time around.
McCarter arrived in Germany earlier this week to prepare for her GBU and WIBF Welterweight title defense to find that her match may be scratched due to her original opponent, Ruth Chisale (10-1, 6 KOs) of Malawi, had visa issues and could not compete.
Today, #WomenofBoxing was advised that Serbian Eva Bajic has accepted the opportunity to challenge McCarter on days notice.
Bajic was just in action on Saturday in what was supposed to be a farewell, retirement 6-Round bout with Mikaela Lauren in Sweden.
Now, she steps inside the ropes for her 4th match in 2018 with the destined Hall of Famer, McCarter.
With McCarter’s constant high championship work rate, she should have not trouble successfully keeping her belts and use this for stay busy work for potential high profile showcase soon with Brækhus
