From WBC:
RIVAS READY TO DEFEND WBC TITLE
WBC bantamweight champion, Yazmin “Rusita” Rivas, looked powerful, graceful, confident and ready, closing her training camp, aiming to defend her title next Saturday against African Catherine Phiri, in Rosarito, Baja California, at the close of the second WBC Female Convention.
Rivas closed her preparations with an intense training session of 10 rounds, showing a very good physical work ethic, power and determination, in her gym in Gomez Palacio, Durango.
This will be the fifth title defense for “Rusita” facing a hard fighter, namely Phiri (10-1, 5 KO’s), who is called by the press in her country “African boxing sensation.”
“I feel very good and excited because it will be at the WBC Female Convention, in which there will be many personalities from many countries watching my fight,” said 28 year old Rivas.
Phiri comes from losing the first fight of her career against Irish Christina McMahon, in what was a great contest.
