From WBC:
RUGGED DEFENCE FOR “LA LOBA”
Mexican Zulina Muñoz notched ten defenses of her WBC female Super flyweight Championship after defeating game, durable and tough as old boots Venezuelan Carolina Alvarez by unanimous decision.
“La Loba” dominated “La Fiera” from start to finish, to score 99-90, 97-92 and 99-90 in a fight of attrition, during Zanfer’s evening at the gym “Ana Gabriela Guevara ” in Hermosillo, Sonora.
Accidental head clashes in the first two rounds caused cuts for the Venezuelan, who with an uncomfortable style did not allow the champion to show her absolute best. A “North by North West” contest, because Carolina`s chance of winning rapidly went west, as she suffered from the blast of a north wind, which blows a buffeting snowstorm.
Although the objective of Zulina and her team, headed by the brothers Mauro and Lázaro Ayala, was to equal or improve the knockout over the Argentinean Vanessa Taborda, the 38 year old Venezuelan who`s nine years older than Zulina, weathered everything.
With this triumph Zulina improved her record to 48-1-2, 28 knockouts, in addition she equals the ten defenses record of Ana “Guerrera” Torres. Moving up to the bantamweight division to take on WBC champion Catherine Phiri of Zambia, (12-1, 6 KO`s) might not be that far away?
